Introduction[edit]

Ayako Yuuki (結城 綾子 Yūki Ayako) is the star attraction of the SoTO, a techno/rave dance club and restaurant, where she dazzles visitors with her flashy dancing. While appearing on the surface to be nothing more than a good-looking "party girl", Ayako spends a great deal of her free time providing volunteer services to the needy and homeless. She also makes a pastime of luring out rapists, muggers, and stalkers and then beating them to within an inch of their lives, because they do unjust things to women.

Gameplay[edit]

Ayako has some of the strongest damaging normals behind Reimi, but sadly that is all she has going for her. She lacks any useful link combos, all her specials leave her at disadvantage since they don't cause a knockdown, and it feels like any positive traits she has other characters just do much better. People who wish to use Ayako will have to play patiently to find openings. You can't be too offensive because Ayako doesn't have the tools; instead, you have to capitalize on the opponent's mistakes or unpreparedness. Also abuse the hell out of HK.png Rave Storm. At 10F it's quite fast, so can smack unsuspecting opponents and allow Ayako to work her way in close. It also doubles as an anti-air if D.pngHP.png won't reach. Cancel into QCB.pngHK.png after Standing HP.png or D.pngHK.png hits or is guarded for faster recovery. Once Ayako gets in close she becomes slightly more annoying to deal with, but still is not very dangerous until she has Spiral Dive available. Unless some amazing tech is discovered with her, Ayako is considered bottom-tier.

Pros:

  • Best backdash with 24F of invincibility.
  • High damage normals.
  • D.pngLP.png and D.pngHP.png are great anti-airs.
  • QCB.pngHK.png is very quick and gives Ayako range closure, decent damage, and another anti-air option.
  • Unblockable Super Art with good catch range.

Cons:

  • Slow to engage; mostly reliant on the opponent's mistakes before she can become aggressive.
  • No good link combos.
  • No priority with any of her specials since they do not cause knockdowns, or leave Ayako at disadvantage.
  • Mach Spin: just nearly everything about it. Never use it.

Standing upward finger poke.

  • + Hits above Ayako's hurtbox. Her best anti-air, and beats out many aerial attacks if used to counter early. Not many other attacks seems to extend more than this attack to catch Ayako's hurtbox (Eleanor's Elirin Kick a rare exception that usually trades).

  • + Could potentially be used to counter cross-ups since it also has a hitbox slightly higher than Ayako's hurtbox.
  • + Lowers her hurtbox some, can be used to go underneath most projectiles.

Continuous face slapping.

  • + Both throws send the opponent the same distance away on completion, so might as well use the HK.png one for +10 damage.
  • I don't know either why the slapping throw is HK.png, and the leg throw is HP.png.

Spiraling upward and downward drill kicks.

  • There are four separate kicks to each Mach Spin: Ayako's low 'flare' (which is like her D.pngHK.png) that hits in both directions, the ascending drill, and the descending drill.
  • None of the hits combo. The opponent has a 2F gap after the first kick hits to guard the ascending drill. Nor does the descending drill combo after the ascending one.
  • The ascending drill can hit up to two times, but for whatever reason it only happens against Ayako and Satomi. Those hits do combo. The HK.png ascending drill only hits once.
  • Hit advantage note: Ayako is at a huge frame disadvantage if the descending drill does not hit. If it does it's treated like any other aerial attack where her advantage is based on how soon Ayako lands after hitting.

  • + Unlike LK.png, the first two hits do combo. The descending drill still does not.
