The final game in the Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen series. It has a fairly mixed-reception among players. Casual players enjoy the title as it contains some fan favorites such as Killer Bee and Minato - however, both veteran GNT and Clash of Ninja players alike pan the game as the game introduces some controversial changes in mechanics and some of the most overpowered characters ever seen in the franchise.
It's said that there was a lot of internal drama at Takara TOMY as this game was released - hence the scope of the title we received is very, very different from the one we actually got.
Gameplay
Gone are the obstacles and stage transitions of the EX titles - this game's intention is to return to the more traditional Gekitou Ninja Taisen formula - but not without sweeping changes. One of the biggest changes that the Substitution mechanic that the series is known for now has its own independent gauge. This has two functions, really: the more obvious one (which seems silly, until you familiarize yourself with Sage Naruto's playstyle and then realize this is literally the reason the sub gauge exists) and that it also functions as Player 2's chakra gauge in Co-Op Squad (which has since been expanded and improved upon since its debut in [[Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3|Clash of Ninja Revolution 3].
Another addition to the core formula is the addition of "wallsplats", similar to that in the Tekken series, allowing some attacks that sent the opponent flying now can be utilized to allow combos to continue on.
