Trust me, no matter what you’ve heard, we’re still alive. Just, terribly swamped with life-scrub activity.
But, to give you a quick summary of the fighting game related news:
-Guilty Gear 2: Overture drops around the end of this month at November 29th, the demo is currently available via the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace and plays like a fun yet bizarre mixture of Virtual On and Starcraft. Wicked soundtrack comprising of classical music for the army building and frontline battles and vicious heavy metal for the one on one confrontations abounds, and you can get OST 1 on December 5th and OST2 January 1st.
-In the wake of Virtua Fighter 5 Online’s release for the Xbox 360 comes news that AM2 is working on a Revision D ( Xbox version is based on Version C, PS3 version is based on A and B which are interchangeable as far as what works ingame ) of the title, as well as a pending Virtua Fighter 5 Evolution sporting two new characters which probably won’t see release until a year after D drops ( i.e. 2009, at which point we’ll be playing Street Fighter IV, Soul Calibur IV, Arcana Heart 2, Melty Blood Actress Again, King Of Fighters XII, and others and will no doubt drop all of them for the new game.
)
-Couple of neat Smash Brawl related vids. Here in Brawl Talk Gimpyfish talks about the competitive side of the new game, eliminating some of the wild rumors floating around after having played the demo four days in a row with other hardcore Smashers. Meanwhile over at http://www.mlgpro.com/?q=node/168229 former MLG Smasher Killa OR gives his impressions of the new game after its debut at the E For All event.
-World Cyber Games wants your vote for its newest fighting game selection ( Soul Calibur IV, Dead Or Alive 4 or Virtua Fighter 5 ). Go here and vote: http://www.worldcybergames.com/poll/selection2008.asp
-Sengoku Basara Xross may have been pushed back until April 2008. For more info visit the Sengoku Basara X forum resource’s latest special report right here at http://sbx.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=90.
-Dragonball Z Sparking! Meteor / Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 has been released on our shores, although Gamestops are slow to have it in stock. New voice acting and new music changes along with improved AI and balance make this the DBZ fighting game of choice, so if you like this series at all this is the best game yet, go grab a copy.
-KSK Gamersvision is up to Season 2 Ranking Battle 3 for Guilty Gear Accent Core if you haven’t been keeping up. You can catch up on the action at www.youtube.com/user/gamersvision. A-Cho ( www.a-cho.com ) has also been duking it out with the 5th Duelling The KOF Season and has some nice matches up of KOF Maximum Impact Regulation A, KOF 2002 and KOF ‘98.
-Over at www.youtube.com/user/feichunwong you can find the latest batch of Tekken 6 demo matches from what I believe is a location test in China.
