Just when I thought it as clear 2D Capcom fighters were done for outside of remakes along comes a new arcade fighter for the Namco arcade board System 246. Sengoku Basara Cross, looks like it’ll be fast paced combat similar to Chaos Breaker or Hokuto No Ken. This Capcom style take on Dynasty Warriors features an assist system similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and strikingly similar to Juda’s assist system. The catch now is assists have a strength meter to prevent assist abuse, keep using an assist and it will be damage scaled. Those looking for up to the moment coverage should be sure to keep an eye on Arcade Renaissance, they’ve been a great source of info on SBC. Be sure to take a look at this Japanese page, it details some information about the gameplay system pictures like this of the arcade flyer.
The usual updates to the video post, fixed a couple of minor mess ups and added some new games, remember to take a look at the Video Post!

Special thanks and a belated Happy Birthday to Alvarez a.k.a. Chibita Jr / 4649 / xioayuryu; those were some fun games at Otakon, hopefully we’ll meet again at AnimeUSA!
Special thanks to Siedler and Rael Orochi from Ultracombos for the shout out, please do watch this awesome Garou Densetsu Special combo video they’ve put together!

So things are looking good.
A tremendous supporter of the USA based SNK gaming scene, Dark Geese updates with Kizuna Encounter Super Tag Battle casuals from Evo North. Great stuff, can’t wait to see the vids from your Mexico visit Geese!
Mirafi has posted the first video footage from the location test for Sengoku Basara X, and the game looks great. I imagine direct feeds will only continue to impress.
Phanna continues to update with quality high level Smash Bros. Melee casuals from Gigabits in Florida, showing their diverse character usage and skill ( people down there actually use Ganondorf over Falcon!?!? )
Speaking of Smash, here’s something interesting. Click on the picture below to take a look:
If you look closely, someone has outlined the what looks to be Ganondorf, Master Hand, Bowser and Ridley. Could the heroes of Smash Brothers Brawl be facing some epic conglomerate of evil villainy this time around? Time will tell…..or of course it could be someone’s imagination gone wild, but we won’t know until the game’s in a Wii in front of us.
Mi-ka-do recently dropped some smoking hot Groove On Fight matches, and having gotten a ton of casuals in with burningfist over the weekend at Otakon, this game is freakin’ AWESOME. It deserves your attention if you even remotely like the Power Instinct / Goketsuji Ichizoku series. Thanks to Soh85 for the upload.
Master continues to dominate the CGS Direct TV circuit for Dead Or Alive 4 in his second place ranking (second only to Perfect Legend I believe?), and while there has been controversy among the community about the single match race to five team format for brackets and the occasionally convoluted presentation, this is about as serious as an internationally broadcasted nationwide fighting game invitational can get. And Master’s Ryu is just way too much fun to watch, anyone trying to get into DOA4 should watch all of his matches. Kudos to evil09876 for continuously updating with CGS DOA4 footage.
I’ve been busting out my copy of DreamSNES lately and wouldn’t you know it; I’ve rediscovered a classic LucasArts game by the name of Metal Warriors. This game is a classic, imagine a 2D Armored Core and you can see why it’s now one of my all time favorite SNES games again. I’ve added the following updates to the video post in light of this.
In other fighting game footage news; be sure to check out xraymonsizzle’s Marvel vs. Capcom 2 exhibitions that includes an awesome Magneto/Gambit/Captain Commando team video. You can expect much more about some famous robot fighters soon, as I just added a classic Fighters History Dynamite video mirror on my YouTube account I’m going to close with that.
Fighters History Dynamite (All Character Exhibition) by Insanity Naked Hunters

Otakon’s coming up, and its one of the few events I think my job will actually let me take some time off to head out to. Cosplayer hordes aside, I should be able to get some good vids out of the game room, since there seems to usually be a mixed bag of games on display. While we’re on the subject of anime and fighting games, this just in:
DBZ fighters don’t all suck. :/
I’ll give you my top three:
龍珠Z-Hyper Dimension (All Character Combo Exhibition) by serodan

Chou Dragonball Z a.k.a. Super DBZ
The game is actually very, very balanced, and despite comparisons to Tenkaichi 2’s 100+ character roster I think Chou DBZ is by far a deeper fighter at high level play…..check out Gorosei’s collection of Japanese matches.
Dragonball Z 3 a.k.a. Budokai 3
Almost always seems to get the most flack for some reason or other…..I used to hear many a 3S player talk about how all there was to that game was mashing PPPPE…..check out Ven100’s recent collection of Budokai 3 matches for a crazy Goku player named GeorgeT and tell me you could beat his insane tactics with just plain ol’ PPPPE, and I’ll call you a liar.
I threw together a small trailer for an upcoming combo video of mine earlier today:
Valkyrie Fight Tag -The Ragnarok- coming soon.
I’ve been playing a couple of old school fighters as of late including Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Primal Rage; despite being one of the most popular Dreamcast fighters of all time UFC wasn’t listed on the Video Post.
It’s come to my attention also that there is a new set of Honmaru Tekken 3 Tournaments which were just announced on the NewChallenger forums. Aserot has been keeping the Playstation fighter love alive for years with Honmaru and a couple of other web efforts. Be sure to check out some matches on lucoctober’s YouTube channel as well.
As a final note, be sure to check out the latest batch of Sonic the Fighter match videos from Giza.
